Honestly, what has four years of full time education done to us? Some of us are very positive that we are still who we are when we first started secondary school, while others... well, they just won’t even start thinking. Four years ago, we all entered the school with mixed feelings. We have no idea what to expect. Worst, if we’re in a class of strangers – people you have never met before but just in the same boat nonetheless.
Surely you realise that in a few months you’ll be back there? New class, new environment, new teachers, new classmates and new friends. Be it JC or polytechnic, we will all enter a new phase in our life. However, I am not going to bore you with things concerning the future.
Take it back to the time when it all began. This is our time.
Now that the end is just lurking around the corner, let’s just take a blast into the not-so-distant past. You see, we all come from different classes. Some got your first choice, while some get thrown in. We probably don’t even know some of our new classmates! Yet, two years is enough time for everyone to get to know everyone. Of course, there are still times when we go, “Wait... since when did that happen?!” Dark horses rule our class.
Wait, we also have IT geeks, avid gamers, bookworms, basketballers so fantastic you guys should consider becoming Wildcats, fanatic Jodi Picoult fans, students ranging from the tallest to the cutest. Best of all, we are all fun people who enjoys being around each other.
Over this two years, we definitely have seen people change – all for the better. If you say you take no valuable lessons from our two years here, I won’t believe you.
Anyway, let’s give our teachers their deserved credit. (Pst. You know how teachers love to say, “The best reward you can give to me is to get good results.” Can someone tell them to come out with some more original? That’s so cliché!)
Form teacher & Biology Teacher: Mr. Daniel “long-story-cut-short” Chua whose jokes will still tickle our funny bones in years to come. Of course, for a Science teacher, Mr. Chua sure can sing. =D
English & Social Studies Teacher (2007): Mrs. Vidya Deven. I don’t know why, but the first thing that came to my mind is her desktop photo on her laptop. It’s a picture of a kid. Niece or nephew? Also, another incident when this amiable teacher came in the class with rebounded hair and stunned the whole class like a movie star.
Geography Teacher: Mdm. Siti Azzah. She’s nice. Very nice. I’m not much of a humans girl, but I enjoy her lessons. Right, Keech?
Mathematics Teacher: Mr. Toh. Okay, the whole class can write an encyclopaedia about him! A funny teacher, (wait, did I just say that?) who I believe shop in Saks Fifth Avenue. He’s on a constant verbal battle with Javier. So, what’s the score?
(And you have no idea what SFA is, please Google. =X)
Chemistry Teacher: Mrs. Puar. Do you know she’s very shy?!
Physics Teacher: We have a couple of teachers, from Mr. Nelson Chew, to many relief teachers. One day, a teacher with a BRIGHT smile came in with a laptop, and smiled. She took a BLACK marker out of her pocket and wrote her name on the board, “Mdm. Wong”. I remember her telling us that she’s just relief teaching, and that was very insistent that she won’t be coming back this year. Look who climbed this road in Physics together with us all the way.
(Don’t ask me how I remember all this.)
English Teacher (2008): Mrs. Rachel Lee. What can we NOT remember about her? The courtroom and the many videos we watched. My favourite scene has to be the time when we were all in class and we were supposed to continue this line that Mrs. Lee came up with. It was a lesson on trying to make our sentences more interesting. So we were all voting on whose writing to read and naturally people started chanting, “JUS-STEAM!” So, before Mrs. Lee took Justin’s paper, she went, “Ok, next time we shall call him JUS-STEAM!” Unfolding the paper, she started to read, “She got dressed and looked out of the window. Then, she went to the kitchen and found toast spread with butter and honey, cornflakes swimming in the bowl of milk. Most of all she smelt the...” Okay, I’m not trying to suspense anyone of you here but Mrs. Lee really did paused, and gave us this look. Gosh, just imagine the anticipation in our faces! When she finally continued, “STEAMING...”
I have to pause again here, because the class went into an uproar.
“... hot aroma of the coffee on the dining table.”
People may well think that World War III broke out.
(This whole plot credited to Jx’s blog.)
Social Studies and Form Teacher (2008): Ms. Lo. I’m a fan of Social Studies and Globalisation so trust me that this paragraph is biased. Or, you might prefer typicality. OH! Do you know that Ms. Lo is a GEM? A precious, sparkling GEM? For one thing, she was talking about Oxbow Lake minutes before the start of our Geography Paper. After the paper, she was hoping that Iraq-Kuwait War would come out. On the day of our Social Studies, Ms. Lo spoke with much vigour, “Iraq-Kuwait and the oil part better come out!” Well, it did as we all know. Wow, she’s a diamond alright.
Then, of course we have our language teachers, namely, Ms. Low and Cikgu Cheah.
We pretty much ended the wordy part of our examinations, so if I were to continue, we will all get bored. So, I will continue this when I have the time, which is pretty much non-existence since we all know how well we have to do for our MCQs. I’ll come back with a Part II.
In the meantime, for those taking MT O’s tomorrow, all the best and break a pen! =)
For those who are not having paper, STUDY hard for next week! (Even though WE ALL know that you people will be stomping all over Singapore for the perfect dresses/outfits. Oh well, Prompromprom.)
Til time is no longer a luxury, Aida.
